Sencha Chiran cha tea is made from tea leaves that have been protected from the sun for around 20 days. This screening of the tea bushes from sunlight helps produce the bright green color that you see in most green teas being sold today. After the mandatory 20 days of screening, the leaves are then plucked and steamed to stop the fermentation and oxidation process.
To prepare, Chiran-cha tea should be steeped in water that has a 70 degrees Celsius temperature. This should also be steeped for no more than a minute to give you the perfect grassy and strong flavor that this particular tea has. You will get a semi-clear brew that has a strong aroma and medium astringency with this tea, which is great for everyday drinking.
